How to use
Finish in three steps
- 01
Enter one fraction to simplify, or enter two fractions for arithmetic.
- 02
Use forms such as 3/4, -2/5, 1 1/2, an integer, or a short decimal.
- 03
Choose simplify, add, subtract, multiply, or divide, then review the reduced fraction and decimal approximation.
Supported fraction formats
The calculator accepts proper fractions, improper fractions, integers, negative fractions, mixed numbers such as 1 1/2, and decimals with limited decimal places.
How arithmetic is handled
Addition and subtraction use a common denominator, multiplication multiplies numerators and denominators, and division multiplies by the reciprocal of the second fraction.
What the result does not do
The result is ordinary numeric arithmetic. It does not solve symbolic equations, factor algebraic expressions, prove identities, or provide professional dosage, engineering, finance, tax, or legal advice.
FAQ
About this tool
Can I enter mixed numbers?
Yes. Use a space between the whole number and the fraction, such as 1 1/2 or -2 3/4.
Why does division reject a zero second fraction?
Dividing by zero is undefined. The second fraction becomes the reciprocal in division, so a zero numerator cannot be used.
Is the decimal output exact?
The fraction result is reduced exactly with integer arithmetic. The decimal line is a rounded display reference for quick review.
Does the tool upload my values?
No. Fraction parsing and arithmetic run in the browser without accounts, databases, backend services, or external APIs.
