Text Tools

Text Diff Checker

Compare two text snippets locally in the browser and review line-level or word-level added, removed, and unchanged units.

Paste the old text and the new text, then run a line diff or word diff. The result uses + and - markers for review. It handles pasted text only, not document comparison, merge conflict resolution, or code review.

How to use

Finish in three steps

  1. 01

Keep the original source, then paste the old text into the first field and the new text into the second field without editing either snippet in between.

  2. 02

Use line diff for paragraphs, lists, and config snippets, or word diff for wording changes inside short sentences.

  3. 03

Review + added, - removed, and unchanged output before copying it back. Check punctuation, paragraphs, spacing, casing, and names against the source context. For contracts, privacy text, customer data, production config, or launch copy, treat the diff as a review aid and require owner approval.

When to use line diff

Line diff treats each line as a unit. It works well for lists, release notes, config snippets, FAQ paragraphs, and multi-line copy, but it does not understand document structure, table cells, or code semantics.

When to use word diff

Word diff compares non-whitespace word chunks. It is useful for headings, short sentences, emails, and wording edits. Languages without spaces may appear as larger chunks; compare shorter sentence-level snippets when the result is too coarse, and review the output manually.

Local processing boundaries

Comparison runs in the browser without accounts, backend services, file uploads, or external APIs. It does not rewrite either input or decide which version to keep. This is not a Word, PDF, spreadsheet, repository, or merge-conflict comparison tool.

FAQ

About this tool

Does this tool upload my text?

No. The current implementation compares text in the browser without accounts, backend services, or external APIs. Browser extensions, clipboard behavior, device state, and user mistakes can still create residual risk, so avoid pasting secrets, tokens, customer data, or confidential material into pages you do not trust.

What is the difference between line diff and word diff?

Line diff treats each line as a unit for lists and paragraphs. Word diff compares whitespace-separated word chunks for short wording changes. Both are text-level comparisons only.

Can it compare Word, PDF, or two files?

No. It only compares pasted text. It does not parse Word, PDF, Excel, images, repository files, or merge conflicts.
